WelcomeChatbox | Science Union presents: The Science, the Witch and the Wardrobe! Science Union proudly presents: The Science, the Witch and the Wardrobe, our annual ball for 2011! So, on the 23rd of September, trade in your lab coats for your finest evening wear, your test tubes for wine glasses and prepare for a night in a winter wonderland. Hosted at the Parmelia Hilton in the city, guests should arrive at 7pm for pre-dinner drinks and at 7:30 we'll make the adventure through the wardrobe and on the other side the magic begins! The ball will officially end at midnight and for those of you who want to party on we'll be supplying buses to Burswood (i.e. Eve nightclub and everyone's favourite: The Cas!). This is an 18+ event, so please have your photo IDs with you to avoid disappointment. **Ticket Sale info to come** Mid-Holiday Update. Hey everyone! Hope all your results for first semester went well and that you're having a cracker of a mid-year holiday. Just a heads up on some events we'll be hosting this semester which include a PJ party, a convict themed pub crawl and a ball! We've also got plans to host a careers expo sometime throughout the semester. More info on these soon! Look forward to seeing you all back at uni next semester. Have an awesome remainder of the holidays! PROSH! Congratulations to all who participated in the selling of PROSH yesterday, we raised a heap of money, had fun and, most importantly, looked amazing. For 2011, the Science Union's PROSH theme was Age of Empires, so we had everyone dress up as anything and everything medieval! Some of you had some incredible costumes, so thanks to you guys (props to the guys who built a catapult). The idea was to have some people dress as members of a BLUE team and members of a RED team and on sight, warriors would attempt to slay their counterparts. So on the Monday before PROSH, the SU committee met up in Forrest Place in Perth city to perform our promotional stunt for PROSH. We built a fort out of cardboard boxes and had RED team siege war on the BLUEs. The REDs tore through the ranks of the BLUE team and proceeded to destroy their castle. The following is a film we made of our stunt: On the actual day of PROSH, faculties were encouraged to perform a skit in Forrest Place that related to their theme, so the strapping young lads and lasses of the Science Union put on quite a show. We gave 20 members of each team shields painted their team's colour and had them form a tortoise (or testudo) formation and march at one another. They then proceeded to kill each other until, in the end, RED prevailed once again. As a result of the determination and enthusiasm of both the committee and the members of SU, we took first place in both the stunt and the skit so CONGRATULATIONS SCIENCE UNION! Interfac sports Hey everyone, we're calling on all science kids to get together and help out with inter-faculty sports! For those of you who don't know, every Wednesday at 1pm the faculty societies battle it out in various sports. Each week is a different sport and it doesn't matter if you don't think you can play, we just want to see everyone come along and have fun! The sports calendar is available here, so you can check out which sport is when but we'd love to see you all come down each week and represent the Science Union! If you have an questions ask the Sports reps; Mark Patrick and Pip Pienaar. Sundowner 1 and Fresher elections! We hope everyone enjoyed the first of our sundowners (we certainly did). The party started at about 5 and went through until god knows when, but the whole time we were rocking out on the foreshore with the awesome guys and girls of Science Union! During the night we held our fresher elections. Thank you to all who ran and congratulations to those who won, you all put on an impressive display. RESULTS OF FRESHER REP ELECTIONS: The Guys: Steve Shelton Dave Scott The Girls: Kaila Stevens Charlotte Quaife We also found ourselves a fresher to call our new Female sports rep, So congrats to: Pip Pienaar Well played, freshers...Well played, indeed. Hope to see you all at Sundowner round 2! O-Day success! We here at Science Union are proud to declare yesterday's O-Day a massive success! With freshers lining up for camp tickets before the stall even opened and with tickets selling out within the first 45 minutes, the day was looking to be a good one. Stu's abusive microphone antics coupled with our incessant drenching of innocent bystanders had hordes of people, new and old, signing up for membership. We even sold a few shirts! We'd like to shout out a massive thank you to all who came by the stall and helped us have such an awesome day! -Bennet Welcome to Science Union Welcome to the new 2011 Science Union website!
