I'm a little curious how I'm meant to know what's happening for the fresher camp. I'm signed up, and I've checked my student emails, and I'm yet to see any info on the what/where side of things. I don't mean where the camp is, I mean the where do we meet to get to camp, and the when, and the why haven't I been told yet.

Any suggestions?

I was curious about going but haven't had the chance to sign up (if this is indeed required) and I too have heard no information about the event...

eagerly awaiting response

Hi guys,
Yeah.. for those who don't really know wtf is going on. You should've been contacted by your lazy ass leaders if not already ;)
Basically, all the freshers get split into smaller groups of around 8. You will be assigned 2 leaders. Each group will have a different theme (your leaders will contact you and inform you of which). You will all be given some props/costumes but sometimes you may be asked to provide just a bit more.

What's probably more important for you guys right now... is camp starts on Friday afternoon. You can bring your luggage (meaning like a backpack not a suitcase) early in the morning and dump your bags upstairs in our "common room".

Our "common room" is in the loft of Cameron Hall (follow around the corner at the back of the tav you'll find a flight of stairs leading up. Keep going up and up until you reach the attic sort of area and it begins to smell... lol There should be a SU representative around hopefully with a SU T-Shirt on.

Around 3-5pm the SU team will be getting stuff ready for camp. I'd guess that the buses arrive around 5-5:30pm ish so make sure you are outside the FRONT of the tav. Everyone will be split into their groups and then there'll be ice-breaker games ;)

Do NOT BE LATE or else the bus will leave without you and you'll be crying. Also, if you haven't been contacted by your leader you should probably contact Tess our SU leader and she'll sort you out (use the contact form).

You should be arriving back home around 3ish on sunday. This is a very VERY rough guide... many things happen so it's hard to predict what time you'll get back. But most of the time it's around 3-4ish give take.
Some common stuff that you'll be required to bring:
- CHEAP Clothes... but not like dozens
- Toiletries ;)
- Sleeping gear (there are pillows and mattress so just bring a sleeping bag. You won't be asleep most the time neway :P)
- Swimming gear
- Bring a LARGE bottle of water (trust me )
- Some snacks if you get hungry easily... (and for those odd moments where you get the munchies)

What NOT to bring on camp:
- DON"T BRING DRUGS! It's lame and we don't think it's cool.
- Don't bring expensive stuff ie clothes for clubbing
- Don't bring extra alcohol... (we won't mind but it'll be your own responsibility)
- DON"T BRING BOOKS..... this is a CAMP for FUN!! Not for STUDY as some ppl MAY have thought in the past lol... ask your leaders about the story ;)
- Don't bring weak excuses

But most importantly, bring your A-GAME and go nuts on camp to get the best possible experience!

Hope this helps all freshers reading this! :)

If there are any other freshers in the same boat, drop me a private message and I'll send you the paraphernalia regarding camp via email/private message.

I'll be asking our photographer today. I'll then trawl through them and find the ones that won't burn your eyes out/get anyone in trouble and upload them ASAP

You'd have to ask pip about those - he was taking photos of everything and anything, while I took ones that were safe for the public to see. Well, most of them... but i'm not sure you want to see my unsafe ones
